that was brilliant. thank you mark, and thank you marty.

  2. Scam Shamalam says:

It is nice that Rathbun is speaking out. He is still horribly deluded though. It seems that he refuses to recognize the horrible things done by the cult when L.Ron was running the show. Really, I could be more specific but I wasn’t taking notes. I was just sitting here going, Bullshit, Bullshit, Bullshit…

  3. anon says:

I find it funny and disingenuous how Marty makes the argument that people should just take the philosophy and practice it outside the organization when LRH himself made a point to sternly discourage that in many of his writings.

Marty did a whole lot of picking and choosing in that interview and although it is apparent that his intentions are noble, he is no better than Tommy Davis in this regard.

  4. anon says:

Marty seems to forget KSW completely, or at least he forgets that it was written by LRH.

  5. mbm says:

speaking of culties, Kirstie Alley is going to be on Oprah showing off her “weight loss”. Didn’t one of the tabloids hint that she went to a non Scilon fat farm?

  6. Ex aedibus says:

Marty seems eager to ascribe all of Scientology’s problems to David Miscavige. While it is true that Miscavige is a sociopath, he is not the sole source of Scientology’s woes. They stem from the founder.

The whole thing was a fraud from the beginning.

Facing up to the fact that a Messianic figure whom one has revered from the beginning was nothing more than a fraud is never easy. In fact, it is often a searing experience. I can understand his desire not to pursue this. After all, he spent nearly 30 years with the sect. He seems desperate to hold onto something.

  7. dave says:

I saw Kirstie Alley almost a month ago at a local bistro. She was a big lady. Friendly, but man, if she lost that much noticeable weight in that time…Man, I hope she’s okay. That’s kind of scary underneath all that applause. She would have to do more than just control binge eating and exercise in that amount of time to garner any kind of Jenny Craig sponsor.

Best wishes Kirstie, just eat when you’re hungry and make healthy decisions.

  8. Scientologist says:

You see, Scientology isn’t that bad at all: even after more than 25 years of brainwashing, some small parts of the brain start functioning normally again.

  9. flyguy359 says:

LRH invented the internet? Didn’t Marty hear that Al Gore did that?

  10. Mike says:

It starts with a description of how Davis walked out when Bashir repeated the Xenu question. I thought it was rather conspicuous that the radio journalist didn’t ask Rathbun about Xenu. He should be able to clear that up, right? Even if he says that it’s not important and not meant to be taken literally, which would in fact be close to what other religions say about their embarrassing scriptures.
