Mary
DeMoss (now known as Mary Panton) and members of The Foundation
for Religious Tolerance picketed the set, handed out Dead-Agent
Packs (smear material) and investigated and visited the homes
of crew members working on the film.
Six
days before shooting was to be finished on the movie, I.A.T.S.E.
(The International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees)
shut the set down with an illegal picket.
Did
Scientology exert pressure on the union to shut the film down?
The answer is not yet clear but for weeks prior to the Union strike,
the Scientologists picketed the set. When the union picket
began, the Scientologists stopped their overt efforts.
The
film has since been seen theatrically
in Clearwater and has an official
website.
