Mike McClaughry Mike McClaughry has been a Scientologist since 1968.
He spent seven years as an intelligence operative in San Francisco before being promoted to be the security officer in the Intelligence Bureau at the United States Guardian's Office (USGO) in Los Angeles. He held that post until the Guardian's Office was taken over by David Miscavige and the Commodore's Messenger Organization (CMO) in 1981. At that point he left staff and became a public Scientologist. Although Mike still considers himself a Scientologist in the sense that he believes there are benefits to be had through auditing, he no longer participates in the official Church of Scientology because of what he sees as the criminal activities of David Miscavige and others in upper level management. Mike is part of a serious effort to reform the Church of Scientology. Recently he agreed to be interviewed about his own experiences as a church intelligence officer. All available evidence points to the fact that the same activities that he describes in his interview are being carried out by OSA today. He feels strongly that these kinds of activities should be abolished.
